Yongey Mingyour Rinpoche will be in Paris, accompanied by Matthieu Ricard, for a conference entitled “For the love of the world”. This conference is organized on the occasion of the publication in French of the new book by Yongey Mingyour Rinpoche For the love of the world (the wanderings of a Buddhist monk) published by Fayard.

An exceptional evening during which Yongey Mingyour Rinpoche will exchange with Matthieu Ricard on the theme of his latest book For the love of the world, a rare and intimate account of a world famous Buddhist monk's near-death experience and life-changing experience.

One summer night, at the age of thirty-six, Father Yongey Mingyour Rinpoche sneaks out: he decides, in the greatest secrecy, to abandon the comfort of his monastery and the prestige of his name. His solo journey will last more than four years.

We follow this human and spiritual adventure through all the states that the traveler goes through: enjoyment of freedom, but also the difficulties of loneliness and extreme discomfort. Because the abbot made the choice to experience the greatest destitution and it will cost him to be close to death. This episode confronts him with his fears, but above all brings him new wisdom which he transmits to the reader with frankness and serenity. The answers to the most overwhelming anxieties are often found outside our comfort zone and looking for difficulty in order to better accept it allows us to transform our fear of dying into a joy of living.

The conference will be presented by Antoine Lutz, doctor in cognitive neurosciences, director of research at INSERM, specialist in the study of the impact of meditation practices on consciousness, attention, emotion regulation and the perception of pain.

After the conference, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will sign his new book, which will be on sale in the hall from 19 p.m.

Yongey Mingyour Rinpoche and Matthieu Ricard will speak in English. Simultaneous translation into French will be offered, reserve your headset when purchasing your ticket.
