Dharma Online: Pema Chödrön will give a special public lecture for Mangala Shri Bhuti

Renowned author, monastic and respected Dharma teacher Ani Pema Chödrön is due to give a special public lecture on July 12. The talk is given in support of Mangala Shri Bhuti, the sangha of his teacher, the esteemed tulku Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, at the Nyingma Sangha Summer Seminar at the Phuntsok Choling Retreat and Event Center in Ward, Colorado.

“Mangala Shri Bhuti is honored to host Pema Chödrön on Wednesday, July 12, speaking at the annual Nyingma Summer Seminar program,” Mangala Shri Bhuti said in an announcement shared with BDG. “Ani-la teaches in this program every year as a fundraiser for Mangala Shri Bhuti, the sangha of her teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. She will speak on a topic from the Mahayana Buddhist teachings.

Although in-person tickets for this event in Colorado have already been taken, registration is still open for live attendance.

“Pema Chödrön will give this lecture as part of the Nyingma Summer Seminar, a week-long public program that also serves as an important annual gathering for MSB students,” explained Mangala Shri Bhuti. “During this program (Nyingma Summer Seminar), Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Dungse Jampal Norbu and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel (will teach) on the three Yanas of Buddhism. »

Mangala Shri Bhuti is a non-profit organization headed by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche affiliated with the Longchen Nyingtik tradition of the Nyingma lineage of Vajrayana Buddhism. Based in Boulder, Colorado, and with centers in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, Mangala Shri Bhuti offers teaching programs and online courses for the study and practice of the Buddhist path.

For those unable to attend the Pema Chödrön live conference, a recording of the live stream will be made available to all registrants for one month after the event, starting July 13.

Ani Pema Chödrön was born Deirdre Blomfield-Brown in 1936 in New York. She studied with Lama Chime Rinpoche in London for several years, and with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in California. She became a novice Buddhist nun under Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, in 1974. While in Hong Kong in 1981, she became fully ordained. bhikshuni- the first American woman to do so in the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition.

Pema Chödrön is the author of numerous books, including: The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving Kindness (Shambhala Publications 1991), Start Where You Are: A Guide to Living with Compassion (Shambhala Publications 1994), and Don't Take the Bait: Breaking Free from Anger and Other Destructive Emotions (Shambhala Publications 2007).
