
The Tergar Meditation Community, founded by revered meditation teacher and master of the Karma Kagyu and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, has announced that it will host a free webinar on February 15 with renowned Tibetan Buddhist scholar and translator for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Thupten Jinpa. The live talk, titled “Freeing Ourselves from Unwholesome Patterns,” will focus on insights from the Abhidharma texts that can be used to improve our daily lives.
“Join renowned scholar and translator Thupten Jinpa as he unveils the practical wisdom of Abhidharma,” Tergar shared with BDG. “In this free webinar, Thupten Jinpa will discuss the fundamental principles of Buddhist psychology, demonstrating how they can be applied in daily life to loosen the grip of unhealthy patterns.”
Tergar International is a non-profit organization founded by Mingyur Rinpoche with the intention of making the ancient practice of meditation accessible to the modern world. With a global community of meditators and an international network of centers and groups, Tergar is dedicated to helping people from all walks of life discover the joy and benefits of meditation.

The webinar program with Thupten Jinpa will cover Buddhist psychology's deep perspective on understanding the mind, how this perspective can help people break unhealthy habits, and how these practices can lead to greater mental clarity and well-being.

The webinar, which includes a conversation with Thupten Jinpa followed by a Q&A session, is free and open to all. It will be broadcast live at the following times:

Born in Tibet in 1958, Thupten Jinpa is a former monk, who earned a degree in Geshe Lharam from Ganden Monastic University in southern India. He also holds a BA in Philosophy and a PhD in Religious Studies, both from the University of Cambridge,
As the principal English translator for His Holiness The Dalai Lama since 1985, Jinpa has translated and collaborated on many of the Dalai Lama's books, including Ethics for the New Millennium et The art of happinessand Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World.
Jinpa's own writings include A Fearless Heart: How the Courage to Be Compassionate Can Transform Our Lives as well as translations of the main Tibetan works.
Jinpa is also an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Religious Studies at McGill University, Montreal, and is the founder and president of the Institute of Tibetan Classics. He is the founder and president of the Compassion Institute and has been a core member of the Mind and Life Institute and its president since January 2012.
