Christian Gaudin is a screenwriter and illustrator of comics and illustrated books. First an illustrator-graphic designer for the press, publishing, advertising and cartoons, Christian Gaudin was then an independent publisher of comics, mangas and illustrated books for Éditions Gilou, Alpen Publishers, Humanoïde Associés, La Sirène, Kraken , Horizons Illimités, where he served as publisher, artistic director and collection director.

In 1994, he began a career as a prolific author alongside his editorial activities and since 2004 has devoted himself exclusively to his activities as a humorous author.

Published by Éditions du Relié, his famous collection of “Guides pour chats zen” has been translated in Japan, Germany, Spain, Russia and Ukraine, in paperback and is regularly reissued. Under his Buddhist name of Kokon, he draws and publishes gags on Zen practice and spirituality. Under that of Maître Banane, he has been running the Butsu Zen Zone, the Zen meditation stand at Japan Expo, for ten years.

For this new exhibition, he brought back from his last stay in Japan 25 lovely decorative kakemonos to present his latest poetic-hilarious drawings made in ink and Posca on different traditional Chinese papers (Unryu, Xuan, Baipi and Heipi). He will sign his “Cat Guides” and his Zen books (Zen end of life, texts by Roland Yuno Rech and Tzen weets) during the opening and the conference on "Zen laughter" at the stall.
