Tibetans gathered to pray together to wish a speedy recovery to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Hospitalized last Tuesday for a lung infection, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people was released on Friday, reassuring the international community about his state of health.

"I received the necessary medical treatment and now feel pretty normal," the 83-year-old spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism told reporters. “I recovered very well. Please rest assured! I want to thank everyone for your sincere concern and prayers for me,” he added in a video from Voice of America's Tibetan Service, posted to his official Twitter account.

According to his spokesman Tenzin Taklh, he will rest for a few days in New Delhi before returning to his place of residence in Dharamsala.
